Raving about Lush face masks

Lush face masks have own me over in the last few months!

So far I have tried Brazened Honey, Love Lettuce, and BB Seaweed.

So these little pots of amazingness cost £6.25 each, and seeing as you get between 5-7 used out of each one I think it's pretty good value for money! Plus, if you take back 5 empty clean tubs to Lush you get a face mask free! Winner!!

I used to use sachet-like face-masks from Superdrug and Boots - and I literally can't go back, I tried one last week and I absolutely hate it, I've been well and truly converted, Lush face masks make your face feel so cleansed and soft. They are handmade with natural ingredients, and must be kept in the fridge and have an expiry date; so you know that everything you put on your face is fresh. Unlike these...

Ok, so the one bad thing is...they've seemed to block my sink whilst washing off - so if anyone knows how not to do this, and not to wash it off with the garden hose please let me know!

Do you use Lush face masks, which one is your favourite?

Nobody likes you when you're 23.

‘Nobody likes you when you’re 23.’

Yes I’m 23, and yes I’m quoting Blink182.

My apologies for not blogging as much as I’d like, but life can be hard to manage in your twenties.  So today I thought I’d post on some of the difficulties you may experience growing up.

1. Living with your parents – I moved out when I was 18 for university, and ended up living on my own for almost 5 years. Moving back home can be one of the hardest things – having to adjust back to their rules, and not having the complete freedom you used to have.

2. Saving money – for me this is for a mortgage. But it could be for a number of things, renting, holidays, driving etc. I’m quite a good saver, but I’m very impatient – it seems to be taking forever, but I know it will be worth it in the end.

3. Relationships and friendships – things change, people change and move on. We lose friends and make new friends as we get older. We see people less often as everyone now has their own problems and lives to lead. I have a group of friends who I’d call my best friends but sometimes don’t see them for months...this is hard to adjust to, but makes the times I do see them more worthwhile.

These are the 3 main problems I’m facing at the moment. I’m learning to be patient and always think positive – I’ll get there soon!

What do you find hard about growing up?

Liebster Award!!

Firstly apologies I have been away from my blog. I have been away in Manchester (for those of you who don't know I lived there for almost 5 years) visiting friends.

Whilst away I was nominated to take part in the Liebster Award, which I'm really grateful for - thank-you to Little Miss Wallflower!! Sorry my answers aren't the most entertaining.

Here are the rules:
1. Link back to the person who nominated you
2. Answer all the questions that you are given
3. Choose 11 bloggers with less than 200 followers to nominate
4. Pick 11 questions for them to answer and let them know.

Here are the questions I received and my answers:

1. What Posts do you mostly enjoy reading? This is tough...I enjoy beauty, home décor, and personal blogs - I really couldn't decide out of these 3.

2. What is your favourite place? So, my favourite place would be Manchester or my hometown just outside Bristol. I do have favourite places to go and think - e.g. certain areas...like a tree I used to go to when I was little.

3. What is your most essential item? I have 2, this would be my phone and my ipod (to listen to all my musicals).

4. What always puts you in a good mood? My friends - always.

5. One Direction, 5 seconds of Summer, The Vamps or neither? None are my favourite, although I do like songs from each.

6. All time favourite song? Ok, so this always changes...I'll go for Heaven - DJ Sammy (candlelight remix) and all musicals!!!

7. Favourite piece of clothing? At the moment this would be my pastel blue collar dress from BooHoo (have a look at my haul post).

8. Necklace, ring or bracelet? The necklace and ring I'm wearing are from 2 separate people who mean a lot to me, so I'll say those.

9. Where would you rather visit : London, Paris or New York? I've already been to London and Paris, so I'm going to have to say New York.

10. If you were famous what would it be for? Either something ridiculously silly or musicals.

11. Would you rather go a year without makeup or go a year wearing crocs? Tough one at the end eh? I hate crocs!! But I'd have to wear them I guess...

I now nominate:
Shannon Crick
Catherine
Beccas shopping blog
Lauren
Gemma McDonnell
Ellis Horne
Bibi O
BettyMaria Style
Helena McNulty
Chloe Johnson
Sarah Adelsperger

And your questions are:

  1. If you could only use one makeup product, what would it be?
  2. What do you enjoy about blogging?
  3. What do you do to relax and chill out?
  4. Favourite season and why?
  5. What is your everyday go-to hairstyle?
  6. Favourite girls name (besides your own)?
  7. What is your favourite sweet?
  8. If you had to move to another country where would you go?
  9. How many piercings do you have, if any?
  10. What do you hope to achieve?
  11. Would you rather wear flats or heels?

Thanks again to Little Miss WallFlower for the nomination.

Why do you wear make-up?

It's fair to say I'm a girly girl, I like make-up, hair, fashion. I buy new things I don't need because adverts/blogs draw me in. I buy nail polishs because I love the colour - yet then can never be bothered to paint my nails.

This post may get a bit rambly, so excuse me.

Someone I know (a lady, aged in her 40's) asked me recently why girls wear make-up and so much?

She doesn't see the point in getting up earlier just to do your make-up to then be at work in an office/shop etc all day.  And then said who are they trying to impress, are girls trying to impress boys like this?

I don't know about you, but that is one of the last reasons I wear make-up...I wear make-up for me, no one else. It makes me feel better about myself, and comfortable in the way I am; I believe that make-up should enhance the features you already have. I'm not someone who won't go out without make-up on, I'm happy to go to my local shopping centre with nothing on, however I'd feel more comfortable with it on. It's actually quite hard to explain why.

I'd much rather get up earlier in the morning to do my make-up and go to bed a bit earlier the night before!

She then went onto say a lot of young girls don't know how to wear/apply make-up and end up looking like this ice-lolly - where girls apply thick dark foundation (that doesn' match their skin tone) and then have big spots poking through:
I understand what she was saying, and it did make me chuckle a bit.

But at the end of the day everyone gets spots, everyone has the right to feel comfortable in their own skin - whether it be with make-up or without! Do what makes you happy, everyone will always have their own opinions on you and judgements, but honestly what matters is how you feel about yourself!

Leave a comment and let me know why you wear or don't wear make-up.

Glossybox July 2014 - Stars and Stripes

I received my July Glossybox last week, so this blog post is a little late!

This months box is 'stars and stripes' with some American products.

Here's what I received this month:

Bellapierre Cosmetics Ltd - mineral lipstick
This is a full size product and usually priced at £20, it's made with natural waxes, mineral pigments, and antioxidants including vitamin C and E.

Absolute New York - perfecting eyeshadow primer
This is also a full size product, and is from America, priced at $4.99. It is oil-free, and is meant to even the skin tone around the eye area and keep eyeshadow crease-free and lasting.

Carmex - lip balm
Another full sized product usually priced £2.69. This lip balm has menthol, camphor, and beeswax.

Color Club - glossy seal nail polish
Usually priced $8 for 15ml. This polish is made in New York with only non-toxic, cruelty free ingredients. This shade was especially formulated for Glossy box.

Dr Bronner's Magic Liquid Soaps - lavender bar soap
£3.99 for 140g. This soap should work well to calm nerves and soothe the body. It has a blend of organic coconut, palm, olive hemp, jojoba oil, vitamin E, and lavender.

My favourite product this month has to be the Bellapierre Cosmetics Ltd Mineral Lipstick. My least favourite product has to be Dr Bronner's Soap, and the one reason for this is that soap is basically a necessity so I really don't need to be supplied it in my Glossy box.

Bike rides, Bomb Cosmetics, and Yankee Candle

Today I went on a bike ride with one of my friends to our local garden centre (which is a good few miles away!) The sun was out, the countryside was beautiful...and I didn't take my camera - good going me!

I did however make a few purchases completely unrelated to garden centres...bath bombs and candles!

So first up, Bomb Cosmetics, I got to select any bath bombs (like a pick n mix) and put them in this cute box:

I've never tried Bomb Cosmetics, so I'm really excited to have a bath tonight and try my first bath bomb! They are so cute and smell lovely, it was so hard not to take the whole lot home!!! In the end I decided with these:

The 3 large ones, back row, left to right:

Vintage rosehip
Porcelain peony
Ugly duckling

These were 3 for £6.50, I think they are normally priced at £2.49 each

The 3 smaller ones, left to right:

Mango and vanilla bath mallow
Button moon bath mallow
Summer sun bath mallow

These 3 for £6.00, I think they are usually priced at £2.30 each.

What I love already about Bomb Cosmetics is the detail of the bath bombs/mallows - they look too good to put in a bath!!!
Luckily they have a website, so I can just order online instead of cycling miles, bombcosmetics.co.uk I'll be using this as they have a huge range of soaps, candles, body lotions etc that I would love to try!!

Also at the garden centre, I caved into buying a Yankee Candle (I have resisted for months)! I went for Loves me, loves me not which smells like heaven!!! It's a very fresh, daisy/flower smell, which is perfect in these hot summer months

This medium jar is usually £16.99, but was on offer at 25% off, so lucky me, I paid £12.74!

I now cannot wait to start my pamper Sunday with my new bath products and candle.

Have you ever bought anything from Bomb Cosmetics or Yankee Candle? What's your favourite product?

Haul at boohoo.com

Recently I did a bit of internet shopping on boohoo.com - I love this site as the clothes are good quality, reasonably priced and always arrive quickly! I placed my order on a Friday afternoon and it was here by the Monday (even though I paid for standard delivery - 3 - 5 working days!)

Please note all the prices here are 20% off! as I was lucky enough to have a discount code! Also the first picture for each product are from the boohoo website.

Here's what I bought:

Zoe peeptoe cut work ballet - tan - £14.40
These have been great in the hot weather!! Air can pass through all day due to the design of these, I've found I can wear them with most outfits and they are so comfy!

Tammi neon paisley kimono - £12.00
Surprisingly this is the first kimono I've owned! I have fallen in love, it's light and airy! I've had so many compliments whilst wearing this, very happy with this purchase.

Sandy scoop neck maxi dress - demin blue - £8.00
This is basically a repurchase, as I already have this but in black! I find it versitaile and easy to dress up or down.

Zara slash neck crop top - black - £3.20
I haven't actually worn this yet, I bought it to wear under thin 'see-through tops'. I do think it looks great on its own (see picture above), but I'm too self conscious to wear it alone.

Miranda collar detail skater dress - blue - £12.00
This is a lovely dress, it's so soft and comfy! This is another one I feel can be worn for different kinds of events, perfect for work or going out. I love the pastel blue colour also.

Helen Jersey contrast waistband maxi skirt - black - £6.40
This is lovely and thin, perfect for summer! I really love the outfit the model is wearing in the picture above, it's simple but classy.

Deborah patent T-bar geek flat - black - £20.00
Unfortunatly I've had to return these, I have quite wide feet and they wouldn't do up...but I'm still posting them as I still think there really nice.

I hope you've enjoyed seeing what I've purchased. What's your favourite item? What clothes have you bought recently?

June Glossybox

All products received in this months box.

My June Glossybox arrived today!

For those of you who don't know what Glossybox is...it's basically a beauty box you receive in the post once a month (you can subscribe for as little or as long as you want.)
When subscribing you fill out a small questionnaire so that they can cater the products to you and your preferences.

Check out: http://www.glossybox.co.uk for more information.
This is the 4th box I have received, and I love it - it's a great way to try new products!

Inside this months box
Firstly, the boxes are packaged so cutely!! All boxes come with a Glossy magazine, and a card to tell you more about each item.

1. Nail girls - 3-in-1 base/topcoat and nail strengthener
I have very flimsy, bendy, breakable nails, so I'm really looking forward to trying this out! I really hope this product works as similar ones haven't in the past.

2. Teeez Trend Cosmetics - Beautiful Flat Stiff Brush
This brush is so pretty, the handle part is decorated and the brush made out of natural hair (so the packaging states.) Unfortunatly I don't wear a lot of eyeshadow, but I'm sure I can find another use for this brush.

3. Embelleze Novex - Brazilian Keratin -  Hair Food
This product smells lovely! I have yet to actually try it...I feel it may be a bit of a hassle as the instructions say to wash and dry hair, then apply the product - leaving it in for 15minutes, and then to rinse and dry again! I feel this is too much hassle for me so will try it as a daily conditioner.

4. So Susan Cosmetics - Concealear Quad
This is another product where I have fallen for the packaging! As any Concealear, it is designed to cover blemishes and imperfections. What I do like about this, is the fact it is a quad of 4 shades, so you can always mix to make the perfect skin match.

5. Roger&Gallet - Fleur de Figuier Eau Fraiche Fragrance
This smells beautiful!! A lovely summery scent created by Francis Kurkdijan. This is perfect to take on holiday, as it is a sample size of 10ml so easy to fit in your luggage!

And that's everything I got in this months box! Are you subscribed to Glossybox, what did you get and think about this months box? Has anyone tried these products before?

Small basic Superdrug haul

So today I went to Superdrug for some basic necessities, and thought I'd share with you what I got:

First up - two Superdrug facemasks - white chocolate mousse and yogurt smoothie. I love nothing more than relaxing with my sister, watching a film, and having a girly evening which of course has to include facemasks! £0.99 each.

Chewable A-Z multivitamins and minerals - I've not tried these before, but I bought them as I am so tired all the time, so I have assumed that I am missing some sort of vitamin from my diet. Hopefully this will help a little. £2.99

Simple eye make-up remover - this is a repurchase! I live by this, it work wonders at removing make-up and is so gentle on the eyes. This is one of my favourite eye make-up removers as it isn't oily. £1.68

Simple triple action face wash - Repurchase, this is a lovely face wash which is really kind to my skin. Haven't used it in a while as I have been trying some different products, so I can't wait to start using it again. £1.99

Simple spot zapper - I've never used it before, but it's a Simple product so I'm bound to love it. I often get the odd big spot, so I'm hoping this will ease them down. £2.74

NYC perfecting primer - I haven't actually used a primer before as I usually moisturise before putting on make-up. I caught this one out of the corner of my eye, and as it wasn't expensive I thought I would give it a go! £3.49

I can't wait to start using these products, especially the ones I've never used before! Do you guys use any of these, what do you think of them?

All prices are correct of Superdrug on 7th June 2014.
